SPINERGY KID’S NIGHT RECAP: QUICK N DIRTY

SPINERGY KID’S NIGHT RECAP: QUICK N DIRTY

They say home is where the heart is, and for us, home is North County San Diego, with the gem of a riding area known as Lake Hodges. Every year, Quick N Dirty hosts their summer race series here, creating an unbeatable way to spend a warm Thursday evening with bikes, friends, and plenty of dust.

What makes this event truly special is its all-inclusive family vibe. Victor Sheldon, who runs Quick N Dirty, ensures racing is a family affair where both kids and parents can participate equally. This is evident as soon as you arrive, with race categories for boys and girls under 11, as well as middle school categories. Kids receive the same treatment as adult racers, including timing chip plates, live race coverage, their own podium ceremony, medals, and prizes. By making kids' races a focal point, Quick N Dirty inspires young racers and gives them a glimpse of their potential future in the sport.

Recently, we added some extra excitement with the first-ever QND SPINERGY KIDS NIGHT, thanks to partners like Sprockids, Outdoor Fitness Coach, and Del Sur Dirt. The event saw 130 kids racing at the lake, with every participant in the 11 and under category receiving a free 1-month membership to Sprockids' new Ride Krew program. This initiative builds a family-oriented mountain biking network in San Diego.

The top boy and girl in the expert 11 and under category each won a 1-on-1 coaching clinic with Jim Bradford from Del Sur Dirt, focusing on skills and speed. Congratulations to Cathy Alexa Franco and Alejandro Campillo on their wins!

For the older schoolboys and girls (ages 11-15), we awarded sets of GXMax wheels to the fastest racers on their second lap. Congrats to William Todd and Kenzie Jones for their winning laps and category victories. Notably, Kenzie, already racing on MXX24s, was among several podium finishers riding Spinergy wheels.

Every podium finisher received Spinergy socks, and every first-place kid got a t-shirt. To top it off, free popsicles were a hit at the Spinergy tent.

In total, 130 kids raced, surpassing any previous turnout. We handed out 250 popsicles, 30 pairs of socks, 10 t-shirts, and 2 sets of wheels. We hope families will take advantage of the Sprockids Ride Krew program, and that Alexa and Alejandro will gain valuable skills from Del Sur Dirt.

Smiles on dusty faces are priceless, and we can’t wait to do it again. See you this week at the lake!
