Hello, my name is Alex Hoehn. I am a full-time gravel professional racing for the Spinergy team for 2023. I started my racing career in 2016 turning pro in my first year on the bike. I have been racing professionally for 7 years for multiple pro teams before deciding to switch to gravel this year.  I have several top 5’s in the gravel scene and many wins on the road as a professional.

I grew up playing hockey for all my childhood. It was kind of an unconventional sport coming from Kansas, but then again, I was a pretty unconventional kid. I didn’t play school sports, or even start racing my bike until after high school. To be honest, I switched sports because I was simply too small to make any sort of career playing hockey. I fell in love with the bike in the spring of 2016. I grew up watching my dad race, so I had some background of bikes but never pursued any sort of proper training or racing until 2016. I entered a few high level nationally known races in 2016 and did very well. Most notably my 2nd place GC at the Tour of the Gila which was known to be the hardest stage race in America for amateurs at the time. Later that year I was introduced to the pro team Elevate-KHS, signed with them, and never looked back. Since then, I have won multiple UCI races, am a U-23 National Champion, and have been on the podium at many major Pro stage races, including the Tour of California, Tour of Rwanda and the Tour of Utah.

While pursuing a full-time career on the bike, my parents never let me forget about my education. I took online classes for over 5 years while racing all over the world and graduated with a business degree majoring in Management and Economics in the fall of 2021.

After school I decided to move to Spain in 2022 to race with a high-level amateur team, Drone Hopper – Gsport. Sadly, after being promised a spot on the Pro team Drone Hopper- Androni Giacattoli, they folded in the fall of 2022 and my only option was to move back to the States and pursue gravel racing and inevitably more schooling.

I recently got accepted into the Leeds school of business MBA program at CU Boulder where I will be starting this fall. I am confident that after managing 5 years of school and racing at the highest level all over the world, I will no doubt be able to succeed in my grad program and race the top gravel races America has to offer. I am looking forward to an incredible year racing with Spinergy and can’t wait to see what the future holds for us on and off the bike.

SPINERGY PRODUCT(S) USING- Gravel GXX wheels and Road FCC47

HISTORY WITH SPINERGY- I was put in touch with Spinergy last year after coming off a pro-European road season in Spain. I have been slowly making the switch to gravel and found that on top of the superior product they make, they are even better people. Working with Paul, Sasha and the rest of the team has been such a joy and I hope this is the start of a long-lasting relationship that will continue well past my cycling career.
